Mount Vernon Creek Fishery and Wildlife Area

The 82-acre Mount Vernon Creek Fishery and Wildlife Area is a public hunting and fishing area located on STH 92 just west of Mt. Vernon on the northern edge of Donald County Park. The property is a combination of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) Mount Vernon Creek Fishery Area and Dane County owned lands that offer walk-in fishing access and deer and turkey hunting as the primary recreational opportunities. Much of the property consists of wetlands and crop fields.  Parking access is available at a WDNR gravel lot on the south side of STH 92.

Special hunting regulations:

  • Firearms and bows must be in a case for hunters accessing the wildlife area from Donald County Park south of the creek.
  • Trapping is only allowed on the WDNR lands.
