Property: Mendota County Park
Dane County Parks planning staff have been developing a master plan that will propose future management, recreation use and park facility development for Mendota County Park. The County currently owns approximately 19 acres within the recreation park boundary, located in the Town of Westport at 5133 County Highway M along the north shore of Lake Mendota.
Dane County Parks has completed a preferred alternative master plan for Mendota County Park. A public information meeting to review draft recommendations of the plan and gather input was held on Wednesday, August 17, 7:00 pm at the Peace Thru Christ Lutheran School, 3232 W Point Rd, Middleton, WI 53562. A summary of public input heard throughout the planning process is attached to the master plan report document. Some of the improvements to the park that are recommended in the preferred alternative master plan include replacement of a picnic shelter, reorganization of the campground area, improved shoreline access, park health and wellness facilities, natural play areas, walking paths, parking and storm water treatment improvements, and enhancing bicycle/pedestrian access to the park.
