County Snowmobile Trails
As of 12:00 noon on Sunday, December 22, 2013 the Dane County Council of Snowmobile Clubs and the Dane County Parks Division have opened all county snowmobile trails. This includes the State Trails within Dane County.
Duane Meyers, Council President, encourages snowmobiler’s to use caution, since this is the first time the trails have been open this season. The agricultural fields may be very rough until there’s more snow, stated Meyers. The agricultural crops came off late this year preventing many clubs the opportunity to level many of the plowed fields. Snowmobiler’s must stay on the trails and respect the property of private landowners who have given permission for the trail to cross their land.
County Cross-Country Ski Trails and Winter Recreation Areas
County park staff are currently removing snow from the winter recreation parking areas. Staff are also packing and grooming the cross country ski trails. Indian Lake and Lake Farm County Parks were the first trails groomed today. The County intends to have all of the county cross-country ski trails groomed by early on Monday.
